Policy Matters

The main focus of Sewa Kunj Ashram is to provide education to Vanwasi children. Through education Indian culture will get consolidated in the remote part of the country where even officials would not like to go. We have many times mentioned the achievement of the Ashram in terms of academic achievement of the children of the Ashram. But we are really far away from our targets. Although these children are brilliant, yet they are unable to get success like a general category students, because the Ashram lacks basic infrastructure of providing education (even they have no proper permanent teacher to teach). Thanks to the effort of great leader and emancipator of untouchables, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar to garner some seat reserved for these children which enabled them to get successes in competitive exams.

It is really irony that Sonebhadra helps Indian Government generate thousands of crore rupees every year, this place lacks better transport, have no University and not a single good school for the poor. There is one Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya which to some extent provides quality education free of cost, but most of children are not indigenous of Sonebhadra and their parents just settled here for doing job in the companies. This district really requires reservation in development.

1000 People at the Ashram

On 25 June, 2012 people from all parts of Sonebhadra were called for admission of their children in the Ashram for new session. As people have recognized the importance of Ashram, they came with their children here. Unexpected more than five hundred children came with their guardians. After taking test and brief interview we selected about 60 students. But only four students will get chance to stay in the Ashram, rest will be sent to other similar ashrams in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.
